About Mission

*** At Wayne Presbyterian Church we support Bread For the World, a collective Christian voice urging our nation's decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. Their partners represent a broad spectrum of church organizations and faith communities—Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox. Working with Bread for the World will encourage WPC members to address the root cases of hunger by changing policies, programs and conditions that allow hunger and poverty. Help add our Christian voices to theirs to spread the Kingdom of God. Please help alleviate poverty in hunger in our community and in the world - write to your candidate for congress to let him/her know that this is an important issue for you. At Wayne, we don’t think of mission as just another thing the church does. We think of mission as the very reason for the church in the first place. As such, you’ll hear us talk about it a lot—in sermons, in adult education, over coffee. While our church has a historic commitment to urban ministry in Southwest Philly and in Center City, we also support local endeavors like theVillage, formerly Presbyterian Children's Village, and global initiatives like a cancer treatment and rehabilitation farm in Egypt and trust groups in South America that support micro-finance initiatives. In all that we do, we strive to spread the love of God across the globe. In doing so, we usually find love coming right back at us.
