A 2-week series will be presented in the Chapel at 9:30 in honor of WPC's 4th year as an Earth Care Congregation. On September 18, Noel Smyth, a member of Temple Lutheran Church in Havertown and a civil engineer, will discuss his church's recent experience with the installation of solar panels. On September 25, Phillip and Bonnie Witmer, leaders in Birdtown PA and other local conservation efforts, will offer their ideas for "Saving the World One Plant at a Time."
Can WPC Go Solar? – September 18, 9:30 a.m, Chapel
Noel Smyth, a civil engineer, member of Temple Lutheran Church in Havertown, and a volunteer with Solarize Delco, will present “Why and How to Go Solar at Your Congregation.” Noel was instrumental in the installation of solar panels at his home church, allowing it to produce nearly all its own electricity and reducing its carbon emissions by 24 tons a year. He will share information about how solar installations work, their costs, returns, and environmental impact. We hope this will spark a serious conversation about how such technology may benefit WPC.
