Contemplative Prayer

Who's it For?

This class is for men and women of all ages and stages in their faith journey wishing to deepen their experience of God and enhance their experience of Sunday’s worship.

Class Description

Participants will be introduced to two ancient Christian prayer practices: Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina. Each gathering begins with 15 minutes of silent Centering Prayer, followed by the practice of Lectio Divina. This involves multiple readings of a short scripture passage, with periods of silence for deeper reflection. The selected verses come from the scripture text that will form the basis of the upcoming Sunday sermon. As participants listen to the words of scripture, they are guided by reflective prompts designed to deepen and personalize their experience. The fruits of these prayer practices often emerge in everyday life—through a greater sense of peace, clarity, and spiritual connection.
