Music Ministry

Music is one of our great loves at Wayne Presbyterian Church.  Whether it's our Chancel Choir and Orchestra on a Sunday morning, the two hundred voice community choir performing sacred music three times a year, or the melodic tones of our carillon ringing out over the village of Wayne three times a day, we love beautiful music.  Our love of music isn't just for its beauty, however.  We happen to think that great music can render us into the presence of God better than just about anything.

If you want to know more about our music or want to become more involved, contact Tim Evers, Minister of Music, by   or call 610 688 8700, 224.

Wayne Oratorio Society

For over 70 years, singers from all around the Delaware Valley have gathered to perform great sacred choral works accompanied by a professional orchestra and soloists at our church.   Th

ree weekends a year, 200 singers fill our chancel, transforming our sanctuary into an even more sacred space.  Singers are asked to purchase their music.  Some ability to read music is necessary as well as a desire to be rendered

before God by great music.

Contact Tim Evers, Wayne Oratorio Society Director, if you are interested in joining the choir.

Adult Choir - Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir leads weekly Sunday morning worship.  The choir is open to adults—members and non-members. There are no auditions for the choir but some ability to read music is helpful. Consider yourself qualified if you've ever sung in a choir before or taken any music lessons. Singing in a choir is a powerful tool toward a more significant relationship with God, and through worship, a gateway to deeper understanding.

The choir rehearses Thursdays at 7:30 to 9:30 pm, September through May under the direction of Tim Evers.  The choir prepares for Sunday worship in the first hour, and rehearses the oratorio in the second hour after a break. Additionally, the Chancel Choir performs three or four major works accompanied by full orchestra annually in concert with the Wayne Oratorio Society. Each choral section of the Chancel Choir is supported by a professional singer.

During the summer, many Chancel Choir members participate in Summer Choir.  Summer Choir rehearses at 9:00 am in the music room, and then sings for worship at 10:00 am.  Singers are invited to sing with the choir as their summer schedule permits.  The Summer Choir does not wear robes.  Singers from the church and community are invited to join in as well without any long term commitment.
