The Children’s Ministry guides education, worship, mission, and fellowship opportunities for children from birth through fifth grade and their families. The committee partners with parents to nurture faith formation and spiritual development through Christ-centered, developmentally relevant programs that align with WPC’s mission to share the ministry of Jesus Christ through mission, growth, service, and care.

The Youth and College Ministry supports WPC’s mission by fostering faith formation, community, and service during the pivotal middle and high school years. By investing in our youth, we nurture their spiritual growth and secure the future of our multi-generational congregation. Through Sunday school, youth group, confirmation, and service events, we create spaces for young people to grow in faith, build relationships, and actively contribute to the church’s mission.

Supporting Spiritual Growth

RETREATS:  Several successful retreats in 2024 offered transformative experiences for participants, while providing valuable opportunities for spiritual growth and community building. Record-breaking attendance was a shining example of Youth Group returning to full strength.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES: Nearly every Youth Group event incorporates a service component, reflecting the youth of WPC’s commitment to sharing the ministry of Jesus Christ. In 2024, their efforts included gathering aid supplies for Hurricane Helene relief, assisting with Vacation Bible School, and actively supporting the church and wider community through meaningful acts of service. We also saw the return of the annual Target run to shop for Christmas gifts for other students in need.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: In 2024, we welcomed over 100 children, supported by 50 adult and teen leaders. This program shared the gospel and expanded the church’s reach by engaging many non-member families.

Did you know?

Prioritizing consistency and a predictable schedule led to a remarkable increase in energy and participation in 2024. On Sunday evenings, we now regularly welcome 15-25 ethusiastic teens. This approach has not only revitalized energy within the group but has also had a positive impact on the participation of young families at the church.

Sunday School Success

CHILDREN’S: Approximately 45 children attended weekly, supported by a dedicated teaching team of 20 adults. This program provided Biblically based lessons tailored to various age groups, nurturing children’s understanding of faith and community. Significant growth confirmed congregation-wide excitement for programs and events.

YOUTH: Approximately 30 children attended weekly from both middle and high school, under the leadership of 8 dedicated teachers. Increased participation was a testament to the quality of the program as a whole.
