People will be initially drawn in by Ryan’s warmth, kindness, and bright spirit. Beyond this, he brings with him over 30 years of experience in church music; including a 28-year tenure serving as Director of Music and Worship and pianist/organist at Emilie United Methodist Church in Levittown, PA. He has extensive experience directing adult choirs, age-graded children’s choirs, handbell choirs, orchestras, and contemporary bands.
A graduate of Westminster Choir College (Music Education major), Ryan also enjoys a wide-spanning career as a voice instructor and professional singer – having sung with the multiple Grammy award-winning choir, The Crossing, since 2008 and other illustrious ensembles including: Opera Company of Philadelphia, Spoleto Festival Chorus (Spoleto, Italy), Columbus Symphony Chorus, Westminster Symphonic Choir, and The College of New Jersey Chamber Choir.
Outside of music, Ryan is an avid baker and fluid acrylic artist. He can often be found on the road traveling to New Hampshire or Ohio to visit his beloved family. Ryan considers it a privilege to serve God and lead others to thoughtful, meaningful worship through music. In his own words: “I believe that music has the power to crack open even the hardest of hearts and let in the love and grace of God.”
Ryan’s position includes directing the Te Deum and Selah handbell choirs, Westminster Choir (grades 6-12), establishing and directing a new Children’s Choir (grades 1-5), performing a variety of administrative and design tasks in support of the various music ministries at WPC, and providing piano and organ support throughout the church year.
